This album was a labor of love from start to finish for me. I got involved with Camp iHope over 10 years ago and from the very beginning I wrote songs that were inspired by the amazing kids that attend each year. What IS Camp iHope? You might be thinking...

This album was a labor of love from start to finish for me. I got involved with Camp iHope over 10 years ago and from the very beginning I wrote songs that were inspired by the amazing kids that attend each year. What IS Camp iHope? You might be thinking...

Camp iHope is a week long summer camp experience for children between the ages of 7-16 living with and beyond cancer and one sibling. Summer camp serves children who are treated in Texas and do not have a designated cancer camp home.

Much more than a fun experience, camp is a very important part of the healing process. Through their adventures they gain independence and confidence through mastering a skill...whether it's climbing the wall with everyone cheering them on, or being brave enough to "boogie on the dance floor." Camp iHope is a place to be yourself and feel like a "normal kid again." A place where lifelong friendships are formed and another forever family is created. The spirit of camp is magical... it rekindles joy and helps to heal the soul!

My goal was to write songs overheard from what kids were talking about (Chicken Pot Pie and Best Week of The Year), I wanted to make them laugh (Biggest Ham Sandwich & Family Reunion) I wrote songs about some of the activities during the week (Jello War and Happy Nappy) I wanted to write songs that inspire (Today I'm Brave & Choose Joy).

I'm so grateful to Camp iHope and I consider them all my extended family. I hope you enjoy listening to another side of my musical creativity... the side where I make a complete fool of myself so I can hopefully allow these kids to laugh with (or at) me, roll their eyes at me, sing out loud and well... just be kids!

The album cover was drawn by me and painted by myself and each of the kids who wanted to participate at the camp.

When I perform these songs at Camp iHope, it's usually just me and my acoustic guitar in 100 degree (+) weather conditions... for this album, I wanted to add a few things to keep it interesting for repeated listens.

iHope you enjoy it!
